Down There Steam Baths (includes original zine and instructions)
Down There Steam Baths are an old Abuelita remedy. Some of the herbs used in the mixes were grown in my garden, harvested, dried, taken care of and prepared by La Loba Loca (and Rio who also takes care of them). Most of the herbs are either ethically wildcrafted or purchased from an organic herb distributor. Steams can be used by people of all genders and genitalia but I have mostly used it for myself and with people that have internal genitalia (for lack of better term). Some of the benefits are:
-cleansing the area and bringing blood flow to the pelvic region
-helping to center and ground ourselves, I like to think of steam time as a 'going back to the warm and dark womb' experience
-great for people planning to conceive
-bring heat into the body, great for people that might have have 'frio' or coldness in their body.
-used for post-partum, post-abortion and post-loss care. Make sure that you are consulting with a midwife or herbalist while you are doing this. Indications around the best timing for steam baths vary, some traditional midwives do steams right after the placenta is out while others prefer to wait until blood stops flowing
Down There Baths are not to be used for people that are shedding (although in some groups and cultures steaming during mooning is done ritualistically), not recommended for pregnant people (specially if the person is planning to continue with the pregnancy), not recommended for people with IUDs (although i know people that have IUDs that have done them, personally I do not recommend this. Steams are great for people supporting their bodies after an IUD removal though!), people with high fever or advance infections, people that recently had surgery.
You will get:
-bag with herbal mix. You get to choose between the cleansing mix (great if you want to emotionally and physically cleans the area, slight imbalance, antibacterial support, etc) and toning mix (great to tone the uterus, post-partum, etc). There are TWO SIZES available that you can choose from when you check out
-inside the paper bag you will find herb baggies, each baggie is for a steam bath. You will need around 2 cups of boiled water per baggie.
-an original, small zine made with fountain pen with original drawings. Zine made by La Loba Loca. The knowledge in the zine was gathered from personal experience, word of mouth, recetas de abuela, zines and other sources.
